What does Mark 6:16 mean?
Herod had executed John the Baptist and couldn't shake the guilt or fear that followed. When reports reached him about Jesus performing miracles and drawing crowds, his conscience immediately jumped to the worst possible conclusion: the man he'd killed had come back. His words reveal the weight of his own wrongdoing pressing down on him, turning every rumor into a potential judgment. Sometimes our guilt makes us see ghosts, and Herod's terror shows how a troubled conscience can distort reality and trap us in our own dread.
