What does Mark 4:7 mean?
In Jesus's parable of the sower, this describes seeds that land in soil already full of thorns, which grow faster than the young plants and eventually strangle them out. It represents people who hear God's message but let the pressures and distractions of everyday life crowd it out, leaving no room for faith to take root and produce anything meaningful in their lives. The thorns might be worries about money, relationships, status, or just the constant noise of the world demanding our attention. It's a gentle reminder that hearing truth isn't enough, we actually have to tend to it, clear away what's choking it out, and give it space to grow.
