What does Mark 2:9 mean?
Jesus asks this question after some skeptics wondered whether he truly had authority to forgive sins. He's pointing out something piercing: anyone can *claim* to forgive sins because forgiveness is invisible and can't be verified, but healing a paralyzed man is undeniable proof happening right before their eyes. By then performing the healing, Jesus demonstrates that his spiritual authority is just as real as the physical transformation they're witnessing. This hits at something many of us struggle with in faith. It's easy to doubt forgiveness because we can't see it working. But Jesus is suggesting that if you trust him with the invisible—your guilt, your broken relationship with God—you can trust that something genuine and powerful is actually happening, even when you can't measure it.
