What does Mark 16:19 mean?

After Jesus finished speaking with his disciples following his resurrection, he was taken up into heaven, where he now sits at God's right hand. "The right hand of God" isn't about a literal direction in heaven, but rather a poetic way of describing the place of highest honor and authority, sitting equal with God himself. This moment marks the completion of Jesus's earthly ministry and the beginning of his ongoing work of interceding for us before God. For those who follow Jesus, this ascension means our risen Lord is actively present with God on our behalf, even though he's no longer physically here.
