What does Mark 14:36 mean?
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus faces his coming suffering with raw honesty. He calls God "Abba," an intimate Aramaic word for father that shows deep familiarity, and he doesn't hide his anguish, asking directly for another way. Yet in the same breath he surrenders his will to God's purpose, choosing obedience even when it costs everything. This moment teaches us that faith doesn't mean pretending pain away or abandoning our honest desires. Jesus shows that we can bring our whole selves to God, fears and all, while still trusting that his way is better than ours. It's an invitation to authenticity in prayer, not resignation.
