For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and will lead many astray.

What does Mark 13:6 mean?

Jesus is warning his followers that false messiahs and spiritual imposters will emerge claiming authority in his name, and some people will be drawn in by their deceptions. This isn't a distant prediction, but a pattern that has repeated throughout history, right down to today, whenever someone claims to speak with ultimate spiritual authority they don't actually possess. The danger Jesus highlights isn't just that these false leaders exist, but that they're persuasive enough to mislead genuine seekers. He's essentially telling his disciples (and us) to stay grounded in truth and to be thoughtful about who we trust with our faith and our hearts.
