Mark 12:4
“Again, he sent another servant to them; and they threw stones at him, wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully treated.”
What does Mark 12:4 mean?
In this parable, Jesus is describing what happened when a landowner sent servant after servant to collect his harvest. Each time, the tenants growing his crops refused and treated the messengers worse, escalating from rough handling to violence. This particular servant returns with a head wound, rejected and humiliated. Jesus uses this escalating abuse to show how people have continually rejected God's messengers throughout history, the prophets who called people back to faithfulness. The stubborn refusal and increasing cruelty reveal something dark in the human heart, especially when confronted with truth that challenges us.
