What does Mark 11:8 mean?

People were laying down their cloaks and freshly cut branches to create a carpet of honor for Jesus as he entered Jerusalem. This wasn't random decoration, it was a deliberate act of welcome and respect, like rolling out a red carpet for someone important. The branches and garments cushioned his path, and in spreading them on the ground rather than wearing them, people were literally placing themselves in service to him. It's a beautiful picture of how crowds expressed devotion and hope in that moment, even though most didn't yet understand what his arrival would truly mean.
