What does Mark 11:32 mean?
The religious leaders are caught in a trap of their own making. They refuse to say John the Baptist's authority came from God, because Jesus will immediately ask why they didn't believe him then. But they can't say John was just a human teacher either, because the crowd loved John and truly believed he was a prophet sent by God. Their fear of public opinion keeps them from answering honestly, and their silence becomes its own kind of answer.
