What does Mark 10:35 mean?
James and John approach Jesus with bold confidence, asking him to grant them whatever they request before even telling him what it is. Their request comes from a place of hope and trust, yet it also reveals something very human: the desire to secure favor on our own terms, without vulnerability or honest conversation first. In the verses that follow, we learn they're asking for positions of power and honor in Jesus's kingdom, which shows how easily ambition can cloud our judgment about what we actually need.
