Mark 10:3
“He answered, “What did Moses command you?””
What does Mark 10:3 mean?
Jesus responds to a question about divorce by turning it back to his questioners, asking what Moses actually commanded about the matter. It's a teaching technique that invites people to think for themselves rather than just receive an answer, and it sets up an important distinction: Moses permitted divorce because of human hardness of heart, but that permission wasn't God's original intent for marriage. When you're struggling with a question, Jesus often seems more interested in helping you work through it thoughtfully than simply telling you what to think.
