What does Mark 10:24 mean?
Jesus is responding to his disciples' shock after telling a wealthy man that it's nearly impossible to enter God's Kingdom while clinging to money. The disciples are stunned because in their culture, wealth was widely seen as a sign of God's favor and blessing, so they assumed rich people would be closest to God. Jesus gently calls them "children" and redirects their thinking: the real barrier isn't having money, but *trusting in it* instead of trusting in God. When our security, identity, and hope rest on what we own rather than on God, we can't fully open our hearts to him. This isn't about condemning wealthy people, but about where our deepest trust actually lies.
