Luke 9:11
“But the multitudes, perceiving it, followed him. He welcomed them, and spoke to them of God’s Kingdom, and he cured those who needed healing.”
What does Luke 9:11 mean?
Jesus didn't turn people away when they tracked him down, even though he'd been seeking solitude with his disciples. Instead, he met them with welcome, teaching and healing. What strikes many readers is the simplicity of his response: rather than protect his privacy or resent the interruption, he gave generously in all three ways people needed him, addressing their spiritual hunger, their physical suffering, and their longing to understand God's nature. This pattern shows us something about what Jesus considered his real work, and invites us to think about how we might welcome others, even when it costs us.
