What does Luke 8:7 mean?
Jesus is continuing his teaching about a farmer scattering seeds, describing what happens when seeds land among thorny plants. The thorns don't destroy the seed right away, but as everything grows together, the thorns eventually overtake and suffocate the tender plant, preventing it from bearing fruit. This part of the parable speaks to how the good news can take root in our hearts, but then get crowded out by competing concerns, worries, and the pull of other things demanding our attention. It's a gentle reminder that hearing something true isn't enough on its own; we have to actively tend to it, or life's pressures can slowly choke out what matters most.
