What does Luke 6:46 mean?
Jesus is asking his followers a pointed question about the gap between what we say we believe and how we actually live. Calling someone "Lord" in that culture meant acknowledging their authority and committing to obey them, so Jesus is essentially asking: if you really accept my leadership, why aren't you following my actual teachings? He's not interested in empty words or surface-level faith, but in the kind of commitment that changes how we treat people, handle our mistakes, and spend our days. This remains one of the most honest invitations in Scripture, because it refuses to let us hide behind religious language without the living faith to back it up.
