What does Luke 6:36 mean?
Jesus is calling us to mirror the character of God himself, who shows mercy without keeping score or waiting for us to deserve it. When you're merciful to others, you're not just being nice, you're reflecting something deeply true about how God treats us. The "therefore" points back to what Jesus just taught, showing that mercy isn't optional or just a nice quality to have, it's the natural overflow of understanding how much mercy God has already extended to us. This doesn't mean ignoring harm or never having boundaries, but it does mean we're invited to let go of grudges, to give people second chances, and to respond to others' weakness with the same patience God shows us.
