What does Luke 3:7 mean?

John the Baptist was speaking to crowds who came for baptism, but he called them "offspring of vipers" because he saw them going through the motions without genuine repentance in their hearts. He's asking them a sharp question: who actually convinced you that just getting wet and showing up here will save you from God's judgment? His harsh language isn't meant to shame them into staying away, but to wake them up to the reality that real change has to come from the inside. John wanted people to understand that authentic faith requires turning your whole life around, not just performing a ritual.
