“Behold, I send out the promise of my Father on you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high.””
What does Luke 24:49 mean?
Jesus is telling his followers that something extraordinary is coming, but they need to be patient and stay put. He's referring to the Holy Spirit, which his Father promised long before, and this gift will give them strength and courage to do what they couldn't do on their own. He's asking them to wait in Jerusalem rather than scatter, because that's where God will meet them and transform them for the work ahead. There's something tender in this instruction.
