What does Luke 24:47 mean?

After his resurrection, Jesus is telling his disciples what their mission will be: they're to announce to every nation that turning back to God and forgiveness are available through him. The emphasis on "beginning at Jerusalem" grounds the message in the real, particular place where Jesus had just died and risen, showing that this isn't a distant spiritual abstraction but something rooted in history and meant to spread outward from there. The pairing of repentance and remission (forgiveness) is important because Jesus isn't offering cheap grace. Real transformation and genuine sorrow for what we've done matter, yet they're always met with the promise of being fully released from our guilt. This message gives people both honesty about their need to change and real hope that change is possible.
