Luke 24:38
“He said to them, “Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts?”
What does Luke 24:38 mean?
Jesus asks this question right after appearing to his disciples following his resurrection, when they're startled and afraid, unsure whether they're seeing a ghost or something real. He's gently inviting them to move past their initial panic and consider what's actually happening in front of them. The question isn't meant to shame them for their doubt, but to help them notice that fear and uncertainty are clouding their ability to recognize him and trust what they're experiencing. It's a compassionate nudge toward openness, asking them to examine why they're letting fear write the story instead of letting their eyes and hearts take in what's true.
