“Also, certain women of our company amazed us, having arrived early at the tomb;”
What does Luke 24:22 mean?
The disciples are recounting what happened on the morning of the resurrection. Some of the women who had followed Jesus went to his tomb early in the morning to anoint his body with spices, a Jewish burial practice. What they found there shook them deeply: the stone was rolled away, and the body was gone. When they reported this bewildering discovery back to the other followers, it created confusion and wonder among everyone gathered. The disciples are essentially saying, "We were stunned by what the women told us, because we certainly didn't expect anything like this."
