What does Luke 23:6 mean?
Pilate suddenly sees a potential way out of his dilemma. By learning that Jesus is from Galilee (not his jurisdiction), Pilate realizes he can pass the case to Herod Antipas, the regional ruler of Galilee who happens to be in Jerusalem at the time. It's a practical move, even a clever one, but it also reveals how little Pilate actually cares about justice. He's looking for an escape route rather than honestly confronting the accusations before him. Many of us know what it feels like to sidestep a hard decision, hoping someone else will handle the mess instead.
