What does Luke 22:5 mean?
The religious leaders and officials were thrilled when Judas offered to betray Jesus, because it solved a practical problem: they wanted Jesus arrested quietly, away from the crowds who loved him, and Judas's inside knowledge made that possible. Their willingness to pay him money shows how far they were willing to go and how little they valued loyalty or truth when their power felt threatened.
