What does Luke 2:9 mean?

Shepherds were doing their ordinary job on an ordinary night when suddenly the sky lit up and a heavenly being appeared. That kind of encounter would shake anyone to their core, and their terror was the natural human response to encountering something far beyond the everyday world. The brightness and power radiating from God's presence wasn't meant to harm them, but it was so overwhelming that fear came first. What's beautiful is that this story goes on to show these frightened shepherds receiving good news and finding courage to act on it, reminding us that encountering God often starts with our deepest awe and trembling.
