Luke 19:10
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.””
What does Luke 19:10 mean?
Jesus is saying here that his whole purpose on earth centers on finding people who feel far from God and bringing them back into relationship with him. The phrase "lost" doesn't mean people are wandering around confused, but rather people who are separated from God through sin and shame, people the world has written off as unredeemable. When Jesus says he "came" for this mission, he's emphasizing that this rescue work is why he entered the world at all, not something he squeezed in around other priorities. This verse is deeply comforting if you've ever felt like you were beyond help or too broken for God to care about, because Jesus is saying that's precisely who he came for.
