Luke 18:8
βI tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?ββ
What does Luke 18:8 mean?
Jesus is promising that God will ultimately bring justice for those who cry out to him, and he'll do it swiftly. But then he pauses and asks a searching question: will people actually still be trusting and believing in God when he returns? It's not a question about whether faith will exist somewhere on earth, but whether it will be alive and present among those waiting and watching. The tension in these two sentences captures something realβGod is faithful to answer, yet faith itself can grow thin or fade when answers take longer than we hope. Jesus seems to be inviting us to be the kind of people who don't lose heart while we wait.
