“He said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for God’s Kingdom’s sake,”
What does Luke 18:29 mean?
Jesus is speaking to people who've made real sacrifices to follow him, and he wants them to know those choices matter deeply. When he says no one has given up family or home "for God's Kingdom's sake," he's affirming that genuine commitment to faith counts for something eternal, even when it costs us what we hold most dear. This wasn't abstract for his listeners: some had actually walked away from their families or livelihoods to be his disciples. He's reassuring them that God sees and honors those painful choices, that nothing given up for the sake of following him is wasted or forgotten.
