What does Luke 17:28 mean?
Jesus is describing what ordinary life looked like in Sodom before judgment fell, and he's using it as a warning about being spiritually unprepared. These weren't necessarily sinful activities in themselves, eating and drinking and building are normal parts of life, but the point is that people were entirely absorbed in their daily routines and completely oblivious to any spiritual reality or coming judgment. He's saying that just before his return, many people will be so caught up in the regular rhythms of life that they won't notice or care about what matters most spiritually. The danger isn't in daily work or provision, it's in letting those things become so consuming that we lose sight of what's ultimately important.
