Luke 17:15
βOne of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice.β
What does Luke 17:15 mean?
After Jesus healed ten people with leprosy, only one returned to say thank you and give credit to God. What strikes many readers is how rare gratitude was, even in the face of such a dramatic healing, and how this one person's response stood out so sharply that it became part of the gospel story itself. The "loud voice" suggests genuine, uninhibited joy, not a quiet obligation. There's something deeply human in Luke's observation here: we tend to rush forward into our new circumstances and forget to look back with thankfulness, while the person who stops to acknowledge what God has done shows a different kind of wisdom.
