What does Luke 16:2 mean?
A wealthy man has just learned troubling reports about his manager and demands answers. The manager has been accused of wasting his employer's resources, and now faces immediate dismissal unless he can defend himself, which he can't. What makes this moment matter is how Jesus uses it to open our eyes about accountability. Whether we're managing money, time, relationships, or responsibilities entrusted to us, there's a reckoning coming. The uncomfortable truth here is that we all answer to someone for how we've handled what we've been given. For many people going through difficult seasons, this might feel like judgment, but it's also an invitation: it's not too late to examine how you're stewarding your life and to make different choices while you still can. The manager in this story faces consequences, but Jesus tells this parable to people still in their moment of choice, not their moment of judgment.
