Luke 14:23
““The lord said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”
What does Luke 14:23 mean?
In this parable, Jesus is describing a great feast where the master's first invitations were rejected. So the master tells his servant to go further out, beyond the usual places, to bring in people from the margins and forgotten corners of society. The word "compel" here means to urge persistently or welcome so warmly that people feel genuinely wanted, not to force them against their will. It's a picture of radical, expansive welcome, where the master cares more about filling his house with guests than about the social status of those who attend. The point Jesus makes is that God's kingdom is thrown open to everyone, especially those who feel overlooked or left out by the world.
