What does Luke 14:11 mean?
Jesus teaches here a pattern that runs counter to how the world usually works. When we constantly promote ourselves, seek attention, and demand recognition, we eventually face disappointment and loss of respect. But when we let go of our need to prove our worth and instead live with genuine humility, people and God respond by lifting us up in ways that matter most. This isn't about false modesty or pretending to be less capable than you are. It's about releasing the exhausting grip of self-promotion and trusting that your real value doesn't depend on how much others applaud you. The irony is that this surrender often brings the very respect and dignity we were grasping for in the first place.
