What does Luke 13:10 mean?
Jesus is doing something ordinary here, keeping a practice that was completely normal for Jewish teachers of his time. Synagogues were gathering places where people came to hear Scripture read and discussed, and the Sabbath (Friday evening through Saturday) was the set day for this. What matters is that this simple sentence is setting up a story where Jesus is about to heal a woman on the Sabbath, which will spark controversy about what God actually cares about on a day meant for rest.
