What does Luke 12:57 mean?

Jesus is asking his listeners a pointed question here: why aren't you using your own good judgment to discern what's true and right? He's speaking to people who witnessed his healings and teachings but still demanded signs or proof, hesitating to make up their own minds about who he was. Rather than accepting what others told them to believe, he's challenging them to think carefully about the evidence before their eyes and come to their own honest conclusions. It's an invitation to take responsibility for our own spiritual judgment instead of passively waiting for someone else to decide what we should believe.
