What does Luke 12:54 mean?

Jesus is pointing out something his listeners already knew from everyday experience: they could read the sky to predict weather. A cloud from the west (where moisture came from the Mediterranean) meant rain was coming, and they were usually right about it. He's using this simple observation as a setup for a bigger point about spiritual discernment—if people can read the clouds so easily, why do they struggle to understand the signs of God's work happening right in front of them? There's a gentle rebuke here, but also an invitation to pay attention to what matters most the way we naturally pay attention to practical things like weather.
