What does Luke 12:20 mean?
A man has spent his whole life accumulating wealth and building bigger barns to store his abundance, thinking security lies in what he owns. God's response cuts through his illusion with a stark question: what good is any of it if death comes tonight and you leave everything behind? The point isn't that having possessions is wrong, but that building your entire identity and peace around them is deeply foolish because none of it travels with you when you die. The question "whose will they be?" isn't cruel—it's meant to wake us up to what actually matters, to help us see that real wealth is measured differently than we usually count it.
