Luke 12:15
“He said to them, “Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.””
What does Luke 12:15 mean?
Jesus is warning his followers against letting desire for more stuff become the center of their lives. He's not saying it's wrong to have possessions, but rather that accumulating things can't actually give us what we really need: security, meaning, purpose, or happiness. When we spend our energy chasing more and more, we miss out on what actually makes life rich, whether that's relationships, faith, or simple contentment with what we have. This is especially comforting to remember when you're struggling financially or comparing yourself to others, because it reminds us that a full life isn't measured by a bank account.
