What does Luke 11:47 mean?

Jesus is confronting the religious leaders of his day with a hard truth: they honor the prophets of the past with beautiful monuments and respect, yet they're guilty of the same rejection and hostility that their ancestors showed. It's like saying, "You celebrate what God's messengers stood for, but you're actively resisting that same message now." The "woe" here isn't a curse so much as deep sorrow over their blindness to their own hypocrisy. Jesus is calling them to see that building tombs is easy when the prophets are safely dead and gone, but living out what those prophets actually taught requires courage and change that they're unwilling to give.
