Luke 11:35
“Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn’t darkness.”
What does Luke 11:35 mean?
Jesus is inviting us to honestly examine our own inner lives, not just judge others around us. He's asking: what guides your choices and your heart? If what you think is your "light" (your understanding, your wisdom, your sense of right and wrong) is actually leading you away from truth and away from God, then it's really darkness masquerading as light. It's a penetrating question meant to wake us up to self-deception, because we can convince ourselves that our motivations are pure when they're actually selfish or distorted. The invitation here is to look inward with courage and honesty, asking God to show us if we're fooling ourselves about who we really are.
