Luke 11:34
“The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light; but when it is evil, your body also is full of darkness.”
What does Luke 11:34 mean?
Your eyes are like the windows that let light into your life, and what you focus on shapes everything about you. When you're looking at good things, filling your mind with what's true and beautiful and kind, that light spreads through your whole self and affects how you see the world and treat others. But when you're fixated on envy, anger, or destructive things, that darkness seeps into every part of who you are. Jesus is inviting us to notice that our inner life isn't separate from what we choose to look at and dwell on, and that small daily choices about where we direct our attention have surprisingly deep spiritual consequences.
