What does Luke 11:18 mean?

Jesus is responding to people who claim he drives out demons through Satan's power rather than God's power. He's pointing out the logical flaw in their accusation: if Satan were working against himself by having Jesus cast out his own demons, Satan's authority would crumble from the inside out. No kingdom can survive that kind of internal sabotage. This is really Jesus asking his critics to think clearly about what they're saying. He's not denying that evil exists or that demons are real, but he's showing that their explanation doesn't make sense. If he's truly expelling demons, it reveals something about the source of his power, and that source can't be the very force he's fighting against. The challenge invites them to reconsider where his authority actually comes from.
