Luke 10:2
“Then he said to them, “The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send out laborers into his harvest.”
What does Luke 10:2 mean?
Jesus is painting a picture of urgent spiritual need: there's so much work to be done in helping and reaching people, but not nearly enough people willing to do it. Rather than asking his disciples to feel guilty or burned out, he's inviting them into something different: prayer that acknowledges God is ultimately in charge and can move hearts to step forward. This matters because it reframes exhaustion and overwhelm. When you feel stretched thin by the needs around you, or when you notice a cause you care about lacking resources and volunteers, Jesus isn't saying you alone must fix it. He's saying the first move is to ask God to expand the workforce itself. Sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is intercede rather than just work harder.
