Luke 1:8
“Now while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his division,”
What does Luke 1:8 mean?
Zechariah was doing his regular turn serving in the temple, something priests did in rotating schedules so everyone got a chance at this sacred responsibility. He was in the holy place doing the priestly duties, standing right there in God's presence as part of his assigned week. This everyday moment, this ordinary rotation, is where something extraordinary was about to happen—God was about to interrupt his routine with news that would change everything. Sometimes the most life-altering encounters with God come not when we're seeking something dramatic, but simply when we're faithfully showing up to do what we've been called to do.
