What does Luke 1:23 mean?
After Zechariah finished his assigned time serving in the temple, he left to go home. This was the normal rhythm of priestly work: priests took turns serving for specific periods, then returned to their regular lives. What makes this moment significant is what happened during his shift, when an angel appeared to him with news that would change everything. Sometimes the most extraordinary blessings come right in the middle of our ordinary routines, when we're simply doing our duty and showing up.
