What does Leviticus 8:14 mean?
When Aaron and his sons placed their hands on the bull's head, they were participating in a powerful symbolic act: they were transferring their sin and need for cleansing onto the animal that would be sacrificed in their place. This gesture, called "laying on of hands," was how Israelites connected themselves to the offering and acknowledged that the animal was standing in for them before God. This moment mattered especially because Aaron was being set apart as the first high priest. He needed to be ritually purified before he could serve God's people, which meant he had to confront his own need for forgiveness just like anyone else.
