Leviticus 22:7
“When the sun is down, he shall be clean; and afterward he shall eat of the holy things, because it is his bread.”
What does Leviticus 22:7 mean?
A priest who had become ceremonially unclean during the day couldn't participate in the temple's sacred work until sunset arrived and he'd bathed himself. Once evening fell and he was restored to a state of purity, he could again eat from the holy offerings, which were his regular sustenance and rightful portion of the priesthood. This verse captures something important about how the ancient Israelites understood wholeness: cleansing wasn't instantaneous or magical, but required time and a natural boundary (the setting sun) that marked a genuine transition. For those of us in hard seasons, there's something quietly hopeful here, the idea that unclean periods don't last forever and that restoration comes through patient waiting and intentional renewal.
