What does Leviticus 19:31 mean?

God is warning His people not to seek guidance or spiritual power from mediums and wizards, practices that were common in the ancient Near East and deeply connected to idolatry and turning away from Him. The instruction isn't primarily about condemning people but about protecting God's people from spiritual confusion and from practices rooted in distrust of God's direct guidance. When we look to other spiritual sources instead of to God himself, we're essentially saying we don't believe He's enough or willing to help us, which creates a kind of spiritual corruption. The simple heart of this is that God offers Himself as our true guide and source of wisdom, and He wants us to come directly to Him rather than seeking answers through other spiritual channels.
