“The priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before Yahweh for his sin which he has committed: and the sin which he has committed shall be forgiven him.”
What does Leviticus 19:22 mean?
When someone in ancient Israel committed a wrong against another person, they brought a ram to the priest as a formal acknowledgment that something broken needed to be made right. The priest would offer this animal on their behalf, and through that act of sacrifice, both the person and God's community could move forward together.
