Leviticus 14:22
“and two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, such as he is able to afford; and the one shall be a sin offering, and the other a burnt offering.”
What does Leviticus 14:22 mean?
This passage describes what someone with limited means could bring to the priest as part of their purification ritual after being healed from skin disease. Instead of requiring expensive animals that only the wealthy could manage, God allowed poorer people to substitute affordable birds, showing that spiritual restoration wasn't reserved for the rich. One bird would address their guilt before God (the sin offering), while the other expressed their commitment to return to wholeness in their relationship with him (the burnt offering). The underlying message is that God sees and accepts sincere worship from anyone, regardless of their financial circumstances.
