What does Leviticus 10:18 mean?

God is pointing out that the priests failed to follow His instructions about a sin offering. When certain sacrifices were made, the blood wasn't brought into the most holy part of the tabernacle, which meant the meat could be eaten by the priests as part of their provision. By not completing the ritual correctly, they missed both their obedience and their own sustenance. This comes right after Aaron's sons offered "strange fire" and faced serious consequences, so God's correction here is firm but instructional. He's essentially saying, "You have responsibilities I've given you, and they matter for your own wellbeing too." It's a reminder that God's commands aren't arbitrary rules but are designed with purpose, even when we don't understand every detail.
